The clinic speakers and topics for the 2017 ABCA Convention in Anaheim have been announced! The American Baseball Coaches Association’s 73rd annual meeting begins with the ABCA Trade Show and meetings on Thursday, Jan. 5 and the clinics will be led off by 2016 NCAA Div. I champion coach Gary Gilmore of Coastal Carolina University on Friday, Jan. 6.

The ABCA Convention clinics are sponsored by ATEC and Wilson Sporting Goods.

The speaking schedule is coordinated by ABCA Second Vice President Rich Maloney, head coach at Ball State University, with assistance from ABCA Third Vice President John Kolasinski, head coach at Siena Heights University.

Along with Gilmore, the 2017 clinics feature past NCAA Div. I champion coaches Paul Mainieri of LSU, Tim Corbin of Vanderbilt and John Savage of UCLA who are all participating in a championship coaching panel on Saturday, Jan. 7. Jay Johnson, head coach of 2016 NCAA Div. I runner-up Arizona will be speaking, as well as four-time College World Series head coach Jim Schlossnagle of TCU.

Todd Gongwer, author of LEAD…For God’s Sake, will be speaking on Saturday, Jan. 7.

From the professional ranks, San Diego Padres manager Andy Green, minor league manager Dan Sheaffer of the Princeton Rays, mental coach Steve Springer of the Toronto Blue Jays and strength & conditioning coach Mike Barwis of the New York Mets are on the docket. Cape Cod Baseball League coaches and highly-regarded speakers Mike Roberts (Chicago Cubs/Cotuit Kettleers) and Jerry Weinstein (Wareham Gatemen) are speaking on base running and controlling the running game, respectively.
